MIX IT UP! | SMOOTHIES - 2 WAYS

30 April 2017

I love brekkie so much. Like I honestly can`t live without my morning meals but, actually, if you`d asked me about this a year ago my opinion would have been completely different. I never ate breakfast, I just couldn`t think about any kind of food in the morning and I knew that it`s a horrible habit. So what I did is I started from little, light brekkies and for a whole lotta time smoothies were my go to. They`re light, full of lovely fruit, they taste amazing and you can really make ones that will fill up you for the whole morning and, of course - they`re so good just to grab on the go!. Now I have loads of other breakfast options, I really try to change it up every now and then but as the spring starts to kick in I always get back to my smoothies. And recently I tried some new ones, so here`s what I`ve come up with and I make these pretty much all the time now.

Just before the actual recipes, I want to quickly run through the bits that I add basically to of my smoothies:
  • Bananas - they give that amazing creaminess, a bit of sweetness and helps to thicken up a bit. And on the whole, who doesn't love bananas..?!
  • Oats - they`re the bit that makes your smoothies a proper breakfast as it helps you to feel fuller for much longer.
  • Ice cubes - now, they are absolutely optional but I just like that bit of chill they give and then the smoothie seems much more light and fresh.
All recipes make about 1 large or 2  smaller portions

BERRY SMOOTHIE

This is definitely a fresh, perfect for spring one! The berries give some nice sourness that goes perfectly with the sweet banana and apple. Classic, but soooo good!
  • 1 Banana
  • About a cup of frozen berries (I used strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries)
  • 1 Apple
  • Handful of oats
  • ½ cup of cold water
  • A few ice cubes
Put everything in your blender and mix it up! Simple as that.

THE GREEN ONE

Don`t scroll down if you never tried a green smoothie! Please, believe me - they are so awesome. They`re packed with goodness and you even can`t tell that it taste different than all the other ones. It`s made of avocados that contain loads of good fats, vitamins K, C, E...., potassium etc. (and to be honest, I don`t like them, so smoothies is a perfect way to get all the benefits without actually feeling the taste, lol) and spinach which is full of iron, folic acid, and some vitamins. So why not to drink something that`s really good for you and is also vv delicious?
  • 1 Banana
  • A really BIG handful of fresh spinach (I mean really big! I promise you won`t feel it but the more you`ll add the nicer color you`ll get)
  • ½ Avocado
  • 1 Apple
  • 1 Pear
  • ½ Grapefruit
  • Handful of oats
  • ½ cup of cold water
  • A few ice cubes
Okey, this one is a bit more difficult - you have to squeeze the juice from your grapefruit. Done that? So you`re good, put everything into the blender and mix mix mix! Hahaa....!

So here`s just a bit of my ideas, but smoothies are also the best thing to improvise with, so go on - try something new! And I`d love to hear about what are your fave ones! Leave some suggestions down in the comments

  1. These smoothies sound amazing, especially the berry one which I'll have to try out at some point! I love a good smoothie packed with all sorts of fruit and plenty of vitamins. I sometimes don't eat a lot of fruit so smoothies are my favourite way of getting that 5 a day. Lovely photos :)
